Who We Are We
Labrador Labratories began when Tom Gottlieb invented a surreal alter ego named Labra: a character with a bizarre backstory that quickly gained traction in the global freak-folk scene. Out of that playful experiment grew a real band, led by Gottlieb and Noam Vardy, blending intimate folk songwriting with psychedelic textures, jangling guitars, and raw rock energy.
Since 2010, Labrador Labratories have released six albums tracing their evolution: the lo-fi spark of Open Cage, the layered Stairway Escapist, the chaotic joy of Labra Cadabra, the atmospheric Live in Basel, the anthemic Lonely Tribes, and the rich, multi-instrumental Love, Death & Kisses.
With roots stretching from Tel Aviv to San Francisco and Serbia, the band has toured across Europe and collaborated with a wide circle of musicians, weaving violins, choirs, and electric flourishes into their sound. Their songs drift between melancholy and joy, conjuring the feeling of Leonard Cohen fronting a gypsy-folk carnival.
Restless and ever-evolving, Labrador Labratories continues to turn myth into music - always searching for new voices and stories to add to their rich sonic laboratory.
